Senior Design Engineer – Water & Wastewater Group

As the Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of pumps, process mechanical, water/wastewater treatment, and the various aspects of municipal infrastructure.  In addition to this, you will all be responsible for the preparation of Environmental Assessments, servicing reports, specifications, cost estimates, work programs, project budgets, proposals and other administrative duties as assigned.
As our Senior Design Engineer you will:

  • Undertake the design of both public and private sector municipal servicing projects under the direction of one of our Senior Project Managers 
  • Lead the design and provide direction to the multidisciplinary design team throughout the design process
  • Mentor junior team members on the various facets of municipal infrastructure design
  • Coordinate the design with review/input from the various municipal/utility/approval agencies/stakeholders and obtain all necessary approvals.
Necessary Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years of design in the area of water storage, groundwater treatment systems.
  • Groundwater or Surface Water Supply systems design experience
  • Elevated tank or reservoir design experience
  • Contract administration experience
  • Organized and detail oriented. 
  • Capable of producing high quality work under tight timelines. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills oral and written communication. 
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. 
  • Capable of working both independently and in a team environment. 
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Professional Knowledge & Qualifications 
The following qualifications and experience are required: 
  • Civil design-related experience using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • P.Eng. designation preferred or a CET with appropriate industry experience.
  • 10+ years of detailed design experience in the consulting engineering industry, preferably in the Greater Toronto Area.
  • High level of familiarity with various approval agencies, including design guidelines and standards (Local and Provincial).
  • High level of understanding of the design process, the EA process, and the ECA application process.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Creative and innovative thinker with sound technical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, associates, and clients.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work in fast paced, highly charged environment.
  • Expected to complete tasks accurately and efficiently with minimum supervision.
